People have the right to live with dignity and live a free life. The Prophet (ﷺ) covered everything from individual rights to collective rights. In his last sermon, He condemned the injustice and oppression of the weaker sections of the society, i.e. women and slaves, and declared them as equal members of the society. The nations were devoid of the clothing of civilization when the Prophet (ﷺ) was announcing the provision of rights to mankind. This announcement of his (ﷺ) was not just a voice raised for rights, but the actions of him (ﷺ) and the later caliphs and princes showed that these rights have the status of constitution and law in the religion of Islam. Any omission in which is considered a punishable crime. This is the reason why the Ḥajjat al-Wadā ‘sermon is the first manifesto of human rights, as well as being superior to the so-called charters and laws in its efficacy and effectiveness. It is necessary to follow all the instructions mentioned in this sermon to protect human rights in the society. Although the state plays a key role in the provision of human rights, the importance of the individual cannot be denied.
