This article provides a comprehensive overview of colonialism, post-colonialism, and imperialism, delving into their profound impact on societies and social structures. It explores how these phenomena shaped the cultural, economic, and political environment, ultimately giving rise to the feudal system. This system, deeply rooted in exploitation, monopolized resources and power, leaving the underprivileged in perpetual subjugation. In Khalid Fateh Muhammad’s Urdu novel, Sūdo Ziyān ke Darmiyān a vivid depiction of these historical ideologies can be observed. The novel captures the essence of colonial and post-colonial dynamics, portraying their grip on society and the resultant socio-economic disparities. The narrative sheds light on how the feudal system entrenched itself as a by-product of colonial imperialism, exploiting the poor and hindering progress. While feudalism has either vanished or is on the brink of extinction in most parts of the world, its influence remains deeply ingrained in certain regions, particularly in our country. This persistence of feudal roots serves as a significant obstacle to national development, obstructing progress in multiple spheres.
This study critically examines the historical and contemporary relevance of these issues, aiming to underscore their lingering effects on our society and highlight the need for transformative change.
