Copyright and Licensing Policy

AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) is an open-access scholarly journal published by Hira Institute of Social Sciences Research & Development.

1. Copyright Ownership

Copyright in articles published in AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) remains with the author(s) of the article, unless otherwise required by applicable law or an institutional employment agreement.

Authors retain the copyright and full publishing rights to their work without restriction.

By submitting a manuscript to AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ), authors grant the journal and its publisher a non-exclusive right of first publication and the non-exclusive rights necessary to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, archive, index, and make the article publicly available as part of the journal's open-access publishing activities.

This arrangement does not transfer copyright ownership from the author(s) to the journal or publisher.

2. Open Access Licence

All scholarly articles published by AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

This licence permits others to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format; and

  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially,

provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), a link to the licence is provided, and any changes made to the original material are indicated.

The applicable Creative Commons licence is:

3. Author Rights

Authors retain the following rights:

  • Copyright ownership of their published work;

  • The right to share and distribute their published article;

  • The right to deposit the published article in an institutional, subject, or other suitable repository;

  • The right to use the article for teaching, research, and academic purposes;

  • The right to include the article in a thesis, dissertation, academic portfolio, or institutional record;

  • The right to reuse the work in accordance with the applicable CC BY 4.0 licence; and

  • The right to enter into other non-exclusive arrangements concerning the work, provided that such arrangements do not conflict with the journal's first-publication rights or the CC BY 4.0 licence.

4. Repository and Self-Archiving Policy

AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) permits authors to deposit and share all versions of their manuscript in an institutional repository, subject repository, or other appropriate scholarly repository, including:

  • Preprint version;

  • Author's Accepted Manuscript; and

  • Published Version of Record.

No embargo period is imposed by AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) on author self-archiving.

Authors may also share their published articles through personal academic websites, institutional webpages, research repositories, and other lawful scholarly platforms, provided that the original publication in AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) is properly acknowledged and the article's DOI or official journal link is included where available.

5. Attribution and Citation

When a published article is reused, distributed, adapted, or deposited elsewhere, appropriate attribution should be provided.

Attribution should, where applicable, include:

  • Author name(s);

  • Article title;

  • AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ);

  • Publication year;

  • Volume and issue;

  • Page or article information;

  • DOI or permanent article link; and

  • A statement identifying the applicable CC BY 4.0 licence.

6. Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for identifying any third-party material included in their articles that is not covered by the article's Creative Commons licence.

Third-party material, including photographs, figures, tables, datasets, quotations, or other copyrighted content, must be appropriately attributed and used with the necessary permission or under an applicable legal exception.

Where third-party material is excluded from the article's CC BY 4.0 licence, the relevant copyright or licensing information should be clearly indicated in the article.

7. Copyright and Licence Information in Published Articles

The copyright holder and licensing information should be clearly displayed in the published full-text article, including the PDF version.

The following notice may be used in published articles:

© [Publication Year] The Author(s). This article is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

The journal will provide the appropriate Creative Commons licence information and link in the online version and, where technically possible, in the published PDF.

8. No Additional Restrictions

AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) does not impose additional restrictions that conflict with the terms of the CC BY 4.0 licence.

The rights granted to users under the applicable Creative Commons licence remain subject to the terms and conditions of that licence.

9. Copyright of the Journal Website

The copyright and licensing terms applicable to published scholarly articles are separate from the copyright and intellectual property rights relating to the journal website, its design, branding, logos, and other website materials.

The open-access licence applied to published articles does not automatically apply to the journal website, logos, trademarks, or other materials that are not part of an individual scholarly article.

10. Policy Updates

AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) may update this policy when necessary to reflect changes in publishing standards, applicable law, or open-access and scholarly communication practices.

Any significant change to the copyright or licensing policy will be clearly stated on the journal's website.
