Abstract

Social media has significantly reshaped modern society, influencing communication, education, business, and social activism. It has bridged geographical distances, fostering instant connectivity and global collaboration. Through social media, individuals gain access to vast knowledge, promote businesses, and raise awareness about crucial social issues. However, alongside these benefits, social media poses several challenges. Excessive use often leads to time wastage, mental health issues, and weakened family bonds. The rapid spread of misinformation, privacy breaches, and the prevalence of unethical content further contribute to societal distrust and moral decline.

From an Islamic perspective, responsible use of social media aligns with the principles of truthfulness, integrity, and moderation. The Quran and Sunnah emphasize ethical communication, the avoidance of falsehood, and the preservation of privacy. This study critically examines the benefits and risks of social media through the lens of Islamic teachings, offering insights into how users can navigate digital platforms while upholding moral and ethical values. By analyzing Quranic injunctions and Prophetic guidance, this research highlights the importance of balancing technological advancements with ethical considerations. It advocates for a mindful approach to social media consumption, encouraging positive engagement while mitigating its negative consequences. This study ultimately underscores the necessity of integrating Islamic ethics into the digital age, ensuring that technology serves as a tool for constructive societal growth rather than a source of disruption.
