Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy

AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) is committed to maintaining the long-term accessibility, integrity, and preservation of its published scholarly content.

The journal recognizes the importance of digital preservation and will take reasonable measures to ensure that published articles remain accessible even in the event of technical problems, changes to the publishing platform, or interruption of the journal's operations.

1. Digital Preservation

The published content of AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) is maintained on the journal's online publishing platform and is subject to regular administrative and technical backup procedures.

The journal maintains digital copies of published articles, issues, and associated publication records to support the continued availability and integrity of its scholarly content.

2. Long-Term Preservation

AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) is committed to establishing and maintaining a long-term digital preservation arrangement with an appropriate recognized preservation service.

The journal intends to use a recognized preservation service or digital archiving system suitable for scholarly journals as its long-term preservation arrangements develop.

The journal will update this policy and its website when an active external long-term preservation service has been established.

3. Current Archiving Status

At present, AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) does not claim active archival participation with LOCKSS, PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), CLOCKSS, Portico, Internet Archive, PubMed Central, or another external long-term preservation service.

The journal will not represent that its content is deposited with an external preservation service until such an arrangement has been formally established and active deposits have commenced.

4. Journal Website and Article Archive

Published articles and issues remain freely accessible through the official website of AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ).

Each published article is maintained as an individual scholarly record with its own article page and persistent article identifier where applicable.

The journal will make reasonable efforts to maintain the accessibility and integrity of previously published content.

5. Backup and Recovery

The journal and its publisher maintain administrative and technical backup procedures for journal content and publishing-system data.

Backup procedures are intended to reduce the risk of permanent loss caused by technical failure, accidental deletion, security incidents, or other operational problems.

Where necessary, backup copies may be used to restore journal content and publishing services.

6. Preservation of Published Articles

The journal will preserve, where applicable:

  • Published article files;

  • Article metadata;

  • DOI and other persistent identifiers;

  • Issue information;

  • Editorial and publication records; and

  • Other essential information required to maintain the scholarly record.

Published articles will not be removed from the journal website solely because a newer issue has been published.

7. Author Self-Archiving and Repository Deposit

Authors are permitted to deposit and share their work in an institutional repository, subject repository, or other appropriate scholarly repository in accordance with the journal's Copyright and Licensing Policy.

Authors may deposit:

  • The submitted manuscript (Preprint);

  • The Author's Accepted Manuscript; and

  • The Published Version of Record.

No embargo is imposed by AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) on author self-archiving.

Authors should provide appropriate bibliographic information and acknowledge the original publication in AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) when depositing or sharing their work.

8. Future Preservation Arrangements

The journal will periodically review available digital preservation services and may establish an active preservation arrangement with an appropriate recognized service.

Any future preservation service adopted by AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ) will be clearly identified on the journal's website.

The journal will ensure that any stated preservation arrangement reflects an actual and active preservation relationship.

9. Continuity of Access

In the event of a major technical failure, change of publishing platform, change of hosting provider, or interruption of journal operations, the publisher will make reasonable efforts to restore access to the journal's published scholarly record.

The publisher is committed to protecting the continuity and integrity of the academic record of AL-ĪMĀN Research Journal (IRJ).

10. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated when necessary to reflect changes in the journal's digital preservation arrangements, publishing infrastructure, or recognized scholarly preservation practices.

Any significant change to the journal's preservation arrangements will be clearly stated on the journal's website.
